Bayeux Cathedral is the centerpiece of Bayeux’s medieval heritage. Bayeux hosts the famous Bayeux Tapestry, which illustrates the Norman Conquest of England by William the Bastard in 1066. As a result, Bayeux has been deeply influenced by the historical legacies of both the Conquest and D-Day. In the hotel where we stayed, there were a number of paintings which showed knights on horseback emerging from World War II Era landing craft. Thankfully, the cathedral was spared during the 1944 invasion. Photo credit to author.
